Jones Darriwell Partnership is a well-known local breeder of top line Merino Sheep situated in the Trundle township in central west NSW. Their 3 farm properties are utilised for breeding and managing their top line sheep stud, alongside grain production to feed the stud. With substantial acreage and much of the property encompassing remote locations, firefighting is an essential consideration in the unlikely event of a fire breaking out on the property. The task for controlling the initial blaze falls on the team themselves whilst they await back up from the rural fire services to takeover firefighting and containment. With warmer days on the way, Lloyd at Jones Darriwell reached out to Durotank for the supply of 3 water trailers to assist with fire defence.
Having previously bought a Durotank Poly Diesel Trailer 7 years prior and still with no issues, Lloyd was confident in the quality of Durotank products and that they would do the job. To ensure quickly accessible water across the farms, Lloyd was interested in having a water trailer situated at each property. The trailers needed to be able to carry enough water to suppress a fire outbreak and be readily towable by a ute or similar road vehicle. They needed to be reliable and fitted with firefighting equipment that would keep the vehicle at a safe distance from the fire whilst allowing them to manage the fire outbreak.
Lloyd chose 3 x 2,000L Poly Water Trailers fitted with 15m retractable hose reels and firefighting pump kits. The length of the hose ensured the vehicle could maintain an adequate distance from the fire but still be effective in firefighting. With many rural firefighting services made up of volunteers who themselves have farms and can be in remote locations, there can be a delay before the firefighting teams arrive on-site. Being able to manage and suppress the initial blaze is therefore vital. Durotank Poly Water Trailers are ideal for controlling spot fires and outbreaks.
