Warakirri Solterra Partners with Durotank to Scale Fuel Infrastructure Across 36,000+ Hectares
Background & Challenge
Solterra Agriculture, who is managed by Warakirri Asset Management, a leading Australian agriculture investment manager, approached Durotank to replace 20 ageing fuel tanks, many of which had been in operation for more than 15 years.
Their operations span vast and remote areas. Worral Creek consists of 26,857 hectares (66,365 acres) across seven properties, while Coolana extends over 9,500 hectares (21,377 acres) across two properties. As you can imagine, it wasn’t just a short drive around 200 hectares of farmland.

Recognising the complexity, Jerrod took a hands-on approach, visiting the sites and travelling around with the farm team to fully understand their operational requirements.
Solterra needed a complete upgrade to self bunded fuel tanks to support refuelling across their fleet and irrigation infrastructure, including turkey nest dams used for cotton and wheat production. With approximately 70,000ml of on farm water storage, diesel tanks were critical to pump and distribute water across their properties.

In addition, the remote nature of the sites created further challenges. Solterra needed a fuel management system that allowed real-time monitoring of tank levels from a central office, while also addressing limited access to power across the properties.
Solution & Benefits
Solterra required a complete, fit-for-purpose fuel solution that could support large-scale operations across multiple remote sites.
To meet these needs, Durotank delivered a fully integrated fuel storage and management system designed around performance, visibility and reliability.

The solution included:
- Replacement of ageing single-wall tanks with compliant self-bunded diesel and ULP tanks
- Remote fuel level monitoring across all sites
- Improved fuel security and control

Durotank supplied over 25 tanks across the Solterra portfolio, with additional units later purchased for their West Wyalong farms, reflecting the trust the client had in Durotank’s ability.
The deployment included:
- 17 Smart Tanks configured for diesel supply, each fitted with SmartFill wireless SmartDip technology for real-time fuel level monitoring
- Tank capacities ranging from 10kL to 50kL, sized based on pump performance and site-specific fuel demand
- ULP tanks to support petrol requirements across operations
- 6+ Smart Tanks with integrated fuel management systems, enabling full visibility and tracking of fleet fuel usage
- RFID tag readers, providing accurate usage data and reducing fuel theft risk
Beyond supply, Durotank worked closely with the Solterra team on-site to ensure seamless implementation. This included activating SmartFill systems, setting up user access, and configuring driver PIN codes to ensure the entire system was operational from day one.

The Durotank Difference
Solterra’s philosophy is clear: “When we grow, we grow for good – for the community, the environment and our investors.”
They expect the same level of commitment from their partners.
This project reflects Durotank’s approach: listening first, then delivering a solution that works in the real world.
We take the time to understand site conditions, operational challenges and long-term goals. That means getting on-site, asking the right questions and designing a system that performs day in, day out.
And it doesn’t stop at delivery. Durotank supports clients through setup, implementation and beyond, making sure every system is running as it should, and every team is confident using it.
