The Background & Challenge
Banlaw specialises in providing comprehensive refuelling solutions, offering fuel management systems, fluid transfer and control systems, and infrastructure projects. One of their clients required a diesel fuel farm to hold a capacity of 400,000L onsite. The client also needed a pump housing area to accommodate their pipework and valves.
They were interested in Durotank’s 50,000L Self Bunded Smart Tank. However, with the safe fill capacity of 48,000L, Banlaw wanted a solution that could meet their client’s full capacity. The Durotank team took on the challenge and proposed a custom solution: Self Bunded Smart Tanks that meet the fill capacity of 50,000L While there were no site restrictions regarding tank size, it was crucial for the tanks to collectively meet the 400,000L fuel storage requirement at the site. As such, we provided eight custom Self Bunded Smart Tanks. By extending the standard 50,000L tank to meet the safe fill level of 50,000L, we made sure that the client’s needs were met precisely. The team also designed an open-style pump bay, allowing for seamless installation of interconnecting pipework at the site.
Effective communication between our team and the installation team was vital for the success of the project, given the scale of the fuel farm. Having an in-house draftsman enabled quick modifications and ensured that the tanks were manufactured according to the client’s specifications, saving time and costs.
