Moxey Farms is based in rural NSW and is one of Australia’s leading dairy farms. A family run farm with a long history, Moxey Farms started out in 1919 as a small farm with 20 cows and is now an innovative global dairy business with over 10,000 cows encompassing 3 substantial farm properties. The largest farm lies in central NSW and includes over 6000 milking cows alongside crops to feed the resident dairy cows. Moxey contacted the team at Durotank to discuss the options of using water carts for firefighting. With the principal farm in close proximity to Durotank, the team were keen to support local business with quality Australian made products and offer the best solution and price to Moxey Farms that competitors could not match.
Project
Being situated in the rural heart of NSW and at the mercy of scorching summer heat, Moxey Farms were interested in firefighting tools that could safeguard key harvesting equipment on each farm. To ensure maximum protection, water carts needed to be always full and on standby ready for action should a fire start.
Solutions
Due to their specific requirements Durotank suggested the 1200L Poly Water Trailer as the best fit. This meant that in an emergency, any vehicle on-site could tow the water carts full of water to the required location for fire-fighting usage. To align with the role of emergency equipment, we suggested a red powder-coat finish to help water carts standout, be associated with emergency usage and be readily located. We also offered custom signage for the trailers.
Moxey were really happy with the suggested products and the rationale behind them and purchased 3 x 1200L Poly Water Trailers, one for each farm property. Following delivery and customer follow up, Moxey Farms gave the Durotank team a 10/10 score for service and products. We purchased Durotank’s 2400 Litre poly water trailer with fire-fighter pump and hose reel, plus optional dribble bar and batter sprays attached.
Our property, Duxton Farm, borders the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. Because of this, early season burning is extremely important to prevent uncontrollable bushfires later in the dry season. The trailer has been an invaluable asset to fire control – always full and ready to go when the call comes.
We’ve found it to be well balanced, empty or full, with the baffle ball system effectively controlling surge. We have had no issues with set-up, towing it with either a Landcruiser or Hilux.
Overall, we’re extremely happy with our purchase and the support from the Durotank team. We’ll be back.

I purchased a Poly Tank Fuel Trailer from DUROTANK in April 2018. DUROTANK builds one of the best fuel trailers I have ever used. The build quality, engineering and attention to detail is unreal. The fuel trailer is rock solid, it tracks extremely well full of fuel at 100km/hr and its road worthy.
