1,200L Durotanker trailers for Babcock Engineering
Babcock Engineering is a global defence and aerospace company dedicated to improving customer capability, reliability and availability of critical assets and services. In 2019 one of their clients based in Amberley Queensland approached them looking for guidance to purchase reliable, refuelling heavy ground equipment. The client wanted to change their refuelling structure to avoid refuelling through fuel cells or across difficult terrain, which was increasing project lead times and decreasing productivity.
The client required trailers that were able to refuel heavy ground equipment across Australia. They needed to be able to withstand difficult Australian terrain, and long workdays whilst maintaining outstanding performance. Based on the terrain and travel requirements, the trailer’s maximum weight capacity had to be under 2000kg and also had to have excellent safety features to reduce fuel theft.
The Solution
After analysing Babcock’s requirements, the team at Durotank recommended the 1200L Durotanker diesel trailer. The trailer offers a great fuel capacity whilst staying under the client’s maximum weight requirements and manoeuvres well over challenging Australian terrain. For fuel safety the Durotanker trailer has a lockable cabinet and to further prioritise this, the team customised the trailer with lockable Camlock caps rather than standard fill caps.
Initially, Babcock purchased 10 x 1200L Durotanker diesel trailers. The client was thrilled with their Durotank experience from initial conception through to after-sale service, noting that the team went above and beyond to meet their requirements. Being 100% Australian made and manufactured, Durotank has continued to work closely with Babcock, making onsite client visits to optimise existing trailers and tweaking designs to meet customer requirements.

We purchased Durotank’s 2400 Litre poly water trailer with fire-fighter pump and hose reel, plus optional dribble bar and batter sprays attached.
Our property, Duxton Farm, borders the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. Because of this, early season burning is extremely important to prevent uncontrollable bushfires later in the dry season. The trailer has been an invaluable asset to fire control – always full and ready to go when the call comes.
We’ve found it to be well balanced, empty or full, with the baffle ball system effectively controlling surge. We have had no issues with set-up, towing it with either a Landcruiser or Hilux.
Overall, we’re extremely happy with our purchase and the support from the Durotank team. We’ll be back.
