A Mine-Ready Water Trailer Built for Glencore, Mt Isa

Glencore’s Mt Isa Mine approached Durotank with a straightforward request – a water trailer for their maintenance shed. But as we dug deeper, it became clear the job needed more than a standard setup.
The purpose of the trailer was for machinery washdown to keeping equipment in prime condition. Since this was a mine site, the space and equipment were going to be extremely dirty and greasy, so the trailer was also going to be used for cleaning before any maintenance and/or servicing they needed to conduct. This ensured safer working conditions for their crew.
Early on, we discovered that a standard cold water pressure cleaner wasn’t going to cut through the grime quick or efficiently. Glencore needed something tougher – something engineered for the harsh reality of mine-site conditions.
And that’s when the real challenge began.

After consultation, we confirmed one essential requirement: this trailer needed to be fully mine spec’d, which meant the motor had to be diesel-driven.
Thanks to our past experience supplying trailers to Mt Isa mines, we already understood the strict standards of the requirements needed.
To deliver the performance needed, we selected a diesel-driven steam pressure cleaner – powerful enough to break down thick grease and grime. The new component, however, brought fresh challenges of weight and dimensions to fit on the chassis.
But this is where Durotank’s in-house manufacturing made all the difference. Our local manufacturing warehouse allowed us to move quickly and efficiently, especially with our engineering, fabrication and paint systems being all under one roof. Not only did we give our client the best paint finish but we also delivered a product that met mine-site standards.
All modifications were completed quickly and seamlessly, giving Glencore a fully compliant, mine-ready, 1,200L water trailer built to handle the harshest environments.

Our property, Duxton Farm, borders the Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory. Because of this, early season burning is extremely important to prevent uncontrollable bushfires later in the dry season. The trailer has been an invaluable asset to fire control – always full and ready to go when the call comes.
We’ve found it to be well balanced, empty or full, with the baffle ball system effectively controlling surge. We have had no issues with set-up, towing it with either a Landcruiser or Hilux.
Overall, we’re extremely happy with our purchase and the support from the Durotank team. We’ll be back.

I purchased a Poly Tank Fuel Trailer from DUROTANK in April 2018. DUROTANK builds one of the best fuel trailers I have ever used. The build quality, engineering and attention to detail is unreal.
