From small beginnings to a leading Australian supplier

Durotank is a leading Australian designer and manufacturer of self bunded fuel tanks and trailers but their success didn’t happen overnight. The Durotank story began in 2006 in Grace Street, Lake Cargelligo.

Back in 2006 Durotank’s now directors were working on the shop floor at Marland Engineering undertaking general fabrication of ute trays, trailers and steel water cartage tanks. They learnt firsthand what made outstanding trailers and tanks, and from here their skills and expertise grew.

Combining country spirit and entrepreneurial zeal, the young team identified a need for self bunded diesel trailers that could handle the harsh Australian conditions and terrain faced by the mining industry. Renaming themselves Durotank they got to work creating unique low profile diesel trailers ideal for the high demands of mining. From there it didn’t take long for satisfied customers to request Durotank to develop diesel cubes and larger self-bunded tanks that matched the quality and endurance of Durotank’s diesel trailers. Built tough, proven tough.

From the outside, today’s cubes and tanks look similar to these original designs but there has been a process of continual development which is why our tanks and trailers continue to be known for their exceptional performance and durability.

As the Durotank business grew so did the need for manufacturing and office space and in 2015 Durotank moved to Canada Street to gain 1400sq/m of Factory and 6000sq/m of yard. These new facilities provided the opportunity to build and store more products. In turn this meant Durotank could service their growing client base more efficiently and effectively.

By January 2019 Durotank had out grown the Canada St premises. Wanting to stay in the Lake Cargelligo area but also needing purpose built facilities to take the business to the next level, they decided to purchase 24,000sq/m of industrial land and build exactly what was needed. The new purpose built manufacturing facility encompasses a total of 4200sq/m under roof alongside additional external space. With this fabulous new facility Durotank were able to ensure the complete manufacturing process took place under one roof including a sand blasting chamber and a heated paint booth. The result for Durotank, quality control is second-to-none, with every element of the manufacturing process overseen and managed.

After 15 years of hard work and continuing success, Durotank is now one of the leading suppliers of self bunded fuel tanks and trailers. They are proud to be 100% Australian Made, providing local jobs to support the regional economy and offering a wide range of premium quality products.

I purchased a Poly Tank Fuel Trailer from DUROTANK in April 2018. DUROTANK builds one of the best fuel trailers I have ever used. The build quality, engineering and attention to detail is unreal. The fuel trailer is rock solid, it tracks extremely well full of fuel at 100km/hr and its road worthy. All of the fittings are hoses are high quality hydraulic hose and crimped fittings so there are no leaks. The Durotank team is very easy to deal with and more than happy to help with any enquiries. The staff are friendly and it is a pleasure to do business with them. I’d buy another one in a heartbeat, that’s for sure
