Water trailers help Paraway Pastoral get ready for fire season
Paraway Pastoral are established Merino sheep breeders, with a primary focus of prime lamb production and cropping. Based on an extensive 117,000 ha of farmland in NSW, they approached Durotank about water tank trailer equipment that could manage the upcoming fire dangers associated with the arrival of Spring, a dry landscape and the inevitable intensive summer heat.
Requirements at Paraway Pastoral
Paraway had a number of factors that needed to be considered when choosing a water trailer to suit their situation. Being a large rural farm, they required a substantial size unit but one that they could still tow with their existing vehicles. Alongside this they needed to be able to refill the water tanks at various bores and dams on the property using the pump provided. And they required extra storage compartments on the water trailers
Purpose of the water trailer on the farm
The water trailer was to have 2 main purposes at Paraway. Firstly with their remote rural location they needed a hook on water trailer that they could use to fight any bush fires that broke out on their property. In addition they were looking for a water trailer that could be used to effectively control intentional fires used to burn stubble following harvest of their crops.
Water trailer solution
We suggested a premium quality 2,500L Poly Water Trailer was the best fit for their situation. Boasting a substantial water capacity, the water trailer could still be towed by a standard vehicle. With a Honda driven pump, 30m hose reel and fire nozzle, the trailer was easily capable of filling the water tank from a dam using the suction process from the motor and hose.
With fire season almost upon them, Paraway required their Poly Water trailer as soon as possible. Being 100% Australian owned and made, Durotank were able to fast track its build and delivery. Paraway were thrilled with the quality, service and turnaround time of their new water trailer. In a busy and challenging time of year, Paraway could be assured that they had the equipment they needed to deal with the fire hazards and dry land over the upcoming months.
